Portraiture

Great portraiture should be timeless, an image so striking that it causes you to pause for a longer look, everything else is just a picture.

Stress Free Portraiture

So what does that mean, stress free portraiture? So many photographers offer their services with parameters, restraints, like a 1-hour session, or a promise of fifteen edited images. I believe this adds stress for both the client and the photographer. They both end up being overly concerned about what shots will be included in the edited set, and the client ends up feeling undervalued.

I do things differently, period. We take our time and allow the session to last as long as it needs to. Then, every shot I take that turns out, I edit them as I would any other, resulting in a wide array of captures including both candid and traditional poses. Most importantly, we relax and have fun while capturing images that will be cherished for many years to come.

The Process

We begin by meeting to discuss your goals for your portraiture session. Maybe your son or daughter is preparing for their senior year, or you have a family member late in their twilight years and time is short. Whatever your reason, we grab a cup of coffee together and I just ask questions and listen. I take the vital step of getting to know you and your family. Then I ask you to describe your ideal shoot. Maybe you want the backdrop of a family farm, or a favorite spot in the city.

Then my work begins. I scope out the venue of your ideal photoshoot, whether that is a favorite spot along the Blue Ridge Parkway or spots sprinkled around Downtown Roanoke. I visit your venue the day before the shoot to view the light and pick out the optimal spots for the shoot.

On shoot day we arrive just before sunset maximizing the golden hour, resulting in beautiful warm images. After the shoot I professionally edit every shot using the latest software.

Once editing is complete, your images are delivered digitally.

After editing we meet again to review your favorite shots and show samples of the wide array of print mediums available including archival photopaper, canvas, metal and even acrylic. I only work with top rated professional printers ensuring your portraits will be enjoyed for many years to come.
